A Group of Delegates from IAEA Visit TUMS Cancer Institute for Cancer Control Initiatives

TUMSPR News: A group of delegates from the International Atomic Energy Agency visited the Cancer Institute of Tehran University of Medical Sciences for orientation about the ongoing cancer control programs in Iran and introduction of Program of Action for Cancer Therapy initiative on January 23, 2012.


A group of delegates from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) visited the Cancer Institute of Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) for being informed about the ongoing cancer control programs in Iran and introduction of Program of Action for Cancer Therapy (PACT) initiative on January 23, 2012. The group will stay in Iran till January 28 and will visit different treatment and research centers in different cities while meeting with stakeholders of the national cancer control authorities from the Ministry of Health and medical universities.

The delegation is composed of Dr. Rolando Camacho Rodriguez, a PACT Cancer Control Coordinator who is responsible for imPACT reviews and technical support for PACT Model Demonstration Sites (PMDS), Professor Robert Burton, leader in cancer control planning for both the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Union against Cancer (UICC), Dr. Paolo Hartmann, WHO's Chronic Diseases and Health Promotion medical officer and Dr. Shyam Kishore Shrivastava, professor and Head in Radiation Oncology, Department of Radiation Oncology, Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai.
